Where do your books stand?

Behind, messy or almost current, the first step is the same: tell a bookkeeper what you have. Here is what happens next.

How it works

Three steps

  1. Tell us where your books stand

Which months are done, which software you use, and what has fallen behind.

  2. A bookkeeper reviews them

We look at your accounts and tell you which help fits: monthly, catch-up or cleanup.

  3. Your books get current

Then we reconcile them every month, so tax time is not a scramble.

Talk to a bookkeeper

Neighborhood by neighborhood

We work remotely, so the neighborhood changes the local rules and the kind of business, not the service.

How it starts

  1. A short call

Tell a bookkeeper what software you use, how many accounts you have and how far behind things are.

  2. A look at the books

With read-only access, the team checks what is reconciled, what is missing and what was coded wrong.

  3. A plan in plain words

You hear what needs fixing, what monthly work looks like and what the team needs from you.

  4. The work

Cleanup or catch-up first if needed, then a steady monthly close.

Why owners switch to a bookkeeping team

A part-time bookkeeper can be great until they move on, and the knowledge of your books leaves with them. A team keeps notes on your accounts, so the work carries on when someone is out.

You also stop being the person who explains the same transfer every month. Rules and notes live in the file, and questions come to you in one batch, not one at a time.

Who does the work

Los Angeles Bookkeeper is an independent site. When you ask for a call, your request goes to our bookkeeping partner, a bookkeeping team based in Southern California. The partner's team does the work and signs any agreement with you directly. You see their name before you agree to anything, so there are no surprises.

Questions owners ask

Short answers. Ask a bookkeeper for the long ones.

Do you work in person in Los Angeles?

The work is done remotely through QuickBooks Online or Xero and your bank feeds. Most owners prefer that, because nothing has to be dropped off and questions are answered in writing or on a call.

Which software do you use?

QuickBooks Online and Xero. If you are on QuickBooks Desktop or spreadsheets, ask on the call; moving to an online file is often part of a cleanup.

Can you file my taxes?

The focus is books your CPA can file from. If you do not have a CPA, ask on the call and the partner team will tell you what they can help with.

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many accounts you have, how many transactions run through them and how far behind the books are. The team talks pricing with you after looking at your file.

Talk to a bookkeeper

Tell us where your books stand. A bookkeeper reads it and replies to set up a short call.

  • No cost to ask.
  • You get a real person, not a sales sequence.
  • Behind by a month or by years: both are normal here.
