What to include
A few lines are enough. The more of these you can answer, the more useful the first reply will be.
- What the business does and roughly how many transactions a month you have.
- Which software you use now: QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, a spreadsheet or nothing yet.
- How current the books are: up to date, a few months behind, or a year or more.
- What prompted you to ask: a CPA deadline, a loan application, a new partner or just being tired of it.
- Where the business is, so we know which city's rules apply.
If you already have a bookkeeper
You are welcome to write anyway. Say so in your note, and on the first call a bookkeeper can talk through how your books are set up now and what they would change.
Common reasons people write
- The CPA asked for a year of books and they do not exist yet.
- The bookkeeper left and nobody knows what was done.
- QuickBooks says the accounts are reconciled but the balances do not match the bank.
- A lender, investor or buyer asked for financial statements.
- The business grew and the spreadsheet stopped working.
Any of these is a normal place to start. You do not need to tidy anything up before you write.
What happens next
- A bookkeeper reads it Your note goes to a bookkeeper on our partner's team, not to an automated reply.
- You get a reply The bookkeeper writes back with questions or a time for a short call.
- A short call On the call you walk through your accounts and what you need. There is no obligation.
- A plan If it is a fit, the team explains what the work involves and what comes next.
What not to send yet
Please do not send bank statements, tax returns, Social Security numbers or account passwords through the form. If you work together, you will get a secure way to share documents.
Who receives your request
Requests sent through this site are shared with our bookkeeping partner so a bookkeeper can reply. You will see the partner's name before you agree to any work. The privacy policy explains what is shared and why.
Questions
Is the first call free?
Yes. The first call is to understand your books and see whether the work is a fit.
How soon will I hear back?
A bookkeeper reads each note and replies. We do not promise a set time, but every note gets an answer.
Can I call instead of writing?
Use the form for now. The reply will include a time for a call.
Does my business have to be in the City of Los Angeles?
No. Owners in Santa Monica, Glendale, Long Beach and the rest of the county can write too. Name your city in the note so the bookkeeper knows which license and tax rules to check.
